Brothers!

I only had brothers growing up. This is due to the fact that my mother would not have more children, even though I promised I would take care of a little sister much better than I would a little brother, a gerbil, a fish, or a puppy. She insisted on having Ryan instead of a Diane or Evelyn. That's what I would have named my little sister if I had one. Now that I am all grown up with two boys of my own, I see the value of a brother. Not saying I still wouldn't take Diane or Evelyn in.
Where I am going with all of this? I wanted to share some of the most precious moments I have been witness to in the last month. People often speak of sibling rivalry especially when children are born so close and when they are too young to understand what it means to share the spotlight.
I am so proud of my Max. He is the sweetest big brother. Without any instruction or prodding from us, he started kissing Lucas. It took him just one day to learn "gentle" with Lucas. If he sees his little brother crying he will find his binky, put it in his mouth and crawl over to where Lucas is, climb on me or the vibe chair and try to give Lucas the binky. And Lucas is a patient brother, who only howls a little bit when Max just can't resist squeezing a toe or two.

I hope this is just a glimpse of the closeness and care that will shared between these two in the years to come. I know I am blessed with two brothers, who bring lots of joy, fun, and a little annoyance into my life!
