Appliances

My childhood home is often furnished with furniture from swap-meets, classified ads, or a clearance center. I asked my parents awhile back how they chose their cabinets and tile for the kitchen remodel the answer was : "It was on clearance".

I used to be so self conscious in college when I would bring friends home and we had mismatched furniture and cheesy looking art. HA! Now I wished that funny mismatched home with odd tile and couch were closer to me. 781 miles seems like a world away sometimes.

When I found out we would need a fridge and stove for our new place. My first thought was, I wonder where the closest clearance center. Funny, I remember years ago thinking that if I had a place of my own one day that everything would be "perfect" and "match".

Well, time has a way of giving you some wisdom about things and people. So hopefully, you won't notice that the fridge has a couple of scratches on the door handles when you are over at our house getting yourself a beer or how the bottom drawer of the oven isn't perfectly flushed when you are over for some curry. And if you do notice, it's okay, it will probably be the last time you are invited over anyways.

My hope is that when you come over to our house you will be able to laugh, rest, and feel just how important you are to us. I know that's one of my most favorite things about that mismatched clearance center that doubles as my childhood home.
