Rum and Coke

Biggest craving this pregnancy? Rum and Coke. Which I find odd since that is not my signature beverage and searching the caverns of my poor memory I am pretty sure I have never had one. It just sounds so delightful. In a little glass with square holed out ice cubes. Maybe with a small slim red straw. Sipping it slowing while lounging on a nice crushed velvet bar stool. Light conversation to be had with Johnny Depp...

Oh well, maybe in another lifetime. Right now, we are focusing on Thanksgiving plans with family and friends while juggling a little girl who hates sleeping during the night, a little boy who chases all family members around with a ferocious man-eating dinosaur, and another boy who thinks that since he is three, he only has to eat three bites of food, but should get three full sized desserts. Overall, we are doing well. Busy, challenged, but also witnesses to unexpected moments of joy to delight in. Even if those moments do not include a nice cocktail and devilishy handsome actor!

i know! what is it about not being able to have something that makes it so enticing? i'm not a big red wine drinker, but i have LUSTED after bottles of red wine this pregnancy. i joke that people had better not show up to our hospital room to welcome henry with darling little teddy bears and blankets -- they'd better have a bottle of red wine in hand or they're not coming in :) i'll have my rum and coke ready for you, friend!

Go ahead and enjoy that Rum and Coke ... funny but the two friends I've had that had a drink a day while pregnant were both pediatricians --- maybe they have some anedotal evidence of better parenting with moderate drinking?
