Year One

My little Violet is one now. She has been a delight and I cannot imagine this family without her. I have found joy in the most simple feminine touches that she brings whether it is picking out a pink toothbrush (I know, I know girls can like blue too, but whatever it's not like I'm Gloria Steinem) or picking out her first baby doll. I love hearing her high pitched "hi" and seeing her flimsy pageant wave. I LOVE that she is obsessed with going through my handbag and wallet. I just know I am growing a handbag lover!

I love how she lays her head on my shoulders and let's out a sigh and purrs with contentment. I love her bad dancing skills and her attempts to sing along with Cee Lo (clean version). I love how she looks up to both of her older brothers with awe and loves them to pieces. She will chase them down in their beds to give them wet kisses and let them hug the breath out of her. I like how dramatic she is when she doesn't get her way. It's entertaining right now. I am sure it will not be so entertaining in a decade or so.

I am excited to see her emerging sense of self and her personality. It is been fun getting to know her. There are so many moments in the first year of life. All of it seems like one big giant ball of tears, laughter, and joy. Most importantly, I am thankful she was born healthy and continues to be.

My only wish today is that there will be many many many more years of celebrating her entrance to this world along with the deep knowledge that she has a mother who loves her more than anything on this Earth.

Thank you to the most wonderful family and friends in the world for your support and love this last year and your continued support and love. I am always awestruck every time they are all gathered to celebrate with us just how BLESSED we are to have each and everyone of them in our lives.
