We just got back from Colorado. It was our first plane ride with Max. United Airlines really showed great customer care, overall we were impressed with our experience. It also doesn't hurt that we have the most chill baby on Earth. Some rants and raves of traveling :
1. PDX crew put us on an early flight immediately when our flight was delayed. They also gave us a whole row so we would have some extra space. Props to the United ladies in Portland.
2. Boo! to the punk snowboarder who kept giving me dirty looks when Max started kicking the back of his chair since he insisted reclining his chair back (even during take-off and landing). It's not Max's fault, he's just a baby. I figured a little kicking ( he only did it for like 3 minutes ) would be much more tolerated than 2 hours of inconsolable crying. It was really the lesser of two evils. 10 years ago I probably would have wanted to flirt with the punk snowboarder, now I just find him annoying, and wanted to swat off that dirty little beanie off his ratty little head. I know some of you may take offense to this post since I did step on the little dude's right to recline his seat, but you know what, try flying with your baby in economy and then come back and throw the stone, okay?
3. Double BOO! to the United crew in Denver who had me in priority seating 4 and Max in 3, what was he going to do? Roll down the jetway and crawl into his seat by himself? It really sucks that priority seating for people with young children is no longer available, it really does take extra time with a child to get situated. But again, our family probably will never be part of the gold or medallion or whatever color of precious metal the frequent flyer program is called, so rightfully so, those who spend more should probably get some preference.
4. Yeah! to gate agent @ PDX who took extra time out of her duties to make sure our stroller was tagged and ready to be gate checked well before boarding began.
5. Boo! to the drunk stewardess in Denver who questioned us on why our stroller wasn't tagged AND why there wasn't an agent who was working on that? HOW WOULD I KNOW why people aren't doing their job? AND THEN 30 minutes before we land in Portland, she comes over (with what suspiciously looks like a cocktail in hand) and said, "so did the stroller thing ever get taken care of?" WELL if it didn't...it's a bit late to be asking right?
6. Double YEAH! to the nice guy from Portland we sat next to during our flight home. He didn't act rude or inconvenienced to be sitting next to our family, and he even made sure to tell us that we had a great baby and it was nice to sit with us when we landed. He said Max was the best baby he has ever encountered on any flight.
7. and the award for the best baby in the world goes to Max! He was really easy to entertain and fussed so little we would almost consider flying with TWO babies to Thailand....yeah, right!
